19. Performance of National Parties in General
Elections 2019
With numerous regional parties representing the local sentiments of different regions
participating in the electoral politics, various parties who have a strong pan-Indian presence also
play active role in the democratic setup of India. In the 2019 general elections, seven political
parties were given the status of national parties, who fielded 1454 candidates across India; out
of which 397 won. The national parties secured more than 41.85 crore votes across the country.
