Since the first general elections, Indian democracy is witnessing consistent rise in

               the  number  of  candidates  contesting  in  elections.  This  clearly  displays  the
               increasing faith of citizens of India in the democratic ethos of the nation. Below is
               the data of parliamentary constituencies with highest number of contestants in

               general elections 2019.




               In  2019  general  elections,  with  185  contestants  Nizamabad  constituency  of
               Telangana had the highest number of contestants, followed by 57 candidates in

               Belgaum in Karnataka. Karur (Karnataka) had 42 contestants, Chennai South (Tamil
               Nadu) had 40 contestants, 37 contestants in Thoothukudi and 36 contestants each
               in Beed (Maharashtra) and union territory of Chandigarh.
