58. History of VVPAT in India
Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) is an independent system which is
attached with the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). This system allows the
voters to verify that their votes are cast as intended.
As soon as a vote is cast, the elector can view a printed paper slip showcasing the
serial number, name and the symbol of the candidate they have voted for through
a transparent window of the VVPAT. This slip then, automatically gets cut and falls
into a sealed drop box of the VVPAT.
