The highest number of female candidates who won amongst state parties in general elections
2019 was from Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha. Out of the 7 female candidates fielded by BJD, 5
won; which includes Hon’ble MP of Keonjhar (reserved for ST), Chandrani Murmu, who was the
youngest MP to be elected to Lok Sabha in 2019. Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP)
gave ticket to 4 female candidates in Andhra Pradesh, all of whom won. The two female
candidates of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) also won in Tamil Nadu.
Following state parties had one winning female candidate each:
▪ Janata Dal (United) in Bihar
▪ Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) in Bihar
▪ Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Punjab
▪ Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Telangana
