The seventeenth Lok Sabha had 276 members who got elected for the first time to the house,
out of which 48 were women. Out of that, 163 members made their legislative debut by getting
elected to seventeenth Lok Sabha. Out of the 543 members who got elected to Lok Sabha in
2019, 233 were the ones who were sitting MP and got re-elected to the lower house of
parliament. 29 Lok Sabha MPs who got elected in 2019 had prior experience of being an MP of
Rajya Sabha, 227 had prior experience of legislative assembly while 23 had prior experience of
legislative council.
Polling all over India ended at 05 P.M. on the 20th March, 1977. the results started coming in the same evening/night. Press Information Bureau
played a very active and important role in releasing official results to newspapers in the country. It worked
