The number of polling stations increased from 6,87,473 in 2004 general elections to 1,03,37,848
in 2019 general elections. Highest number of polling stations were made in the state of Uttar
Pradesh, 162613; followed by 97640 in Maharashtra. Third highest number of polling stations
were made in West Bengal, 78799; followed by 72723 in Bihar and 67720 in Tamil Nadu.
The lowest number of polling stations in 2019 general elections were made in the union territory
of Lakshadweep, 51; followed by 152 in Daman & Diu. Union territories of Dadra & Nagar Haveli
had 288 polling stations, Andaman & Nicobar Islands had 407 polling stations while the state of
Sikkim had 567 polling stations.
