14. More Opportunities for Youth to Become Part
of Voters List
The Election Commission of India (ECI) introduced a series of measures to enhance youth
participation in the electoral process and improve the quality of the electoral roll. The key
initiatives include:
Increased Opportunities for Youth Enrolment: Youth aged 17 and above now have four
chances annually to enrol in the voters' list, eliminating the need to wait for the traditional
1st January qualifying date. Advance application facility is introduced for 17+ year-olds to apply
for voter registration.
New User-Friendly Forms and Single Form for Correction: Starting from 1st August 2022,
new user-friendly forms for voter registration have been implemented. A single Form 8 is
devised for correction of entries, simplifying the registration and correction processes.
Voluntary Aadhar Collection: The option for voluntary Aadhar collection is introduced to
link with the Voter card.
Focus on Removing Similar Entries: Emphasis on removing demographically and photo
similar entries to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the electoral roll.
