140 candidates fielded by state parties won in 2019 general elections.
By winning 24 seats in Tamil Nadu, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) emerged as the largest
state party in the 2019 general elections. It was followed by Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress
Party (YSRCP) which won 22 seats in Andhra Pradesh, while Telugu Desam (TDP) won 3 seats in
the state. Shiv Sena won 18 seats in Maharashtra. Janata Dal (United) won 16 seats in Bihar,
while Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) won 6 seats in the state. 9 seats were won in Telangana by
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Biju Janata Dal (BJD) won 12 seats in Odisha. In Uttar Pradesh,
Samajwadi Party (SP) won 5 seats while Apna Dal (Soneylal) won 2 seats. Shiromani Akali Dal
(SAD) won 2 seats in Punjab.
Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) won two seats in Kerala and one in Tamil Nadu. Jammu &
Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) won three seats in Jammu and Kashmir. All India Majlis-E-
Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won one seat each in Telangana and Maharashtra.
In the north-eastern states, one seat each was won by the regional parties which include:
• Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (Sikkim)
• National People's Party (Meghalaya)
• Naga Peoples Front (Manipur)
• Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (Nagaland)
• Mizo National Front (Mizoram)
