The lowest victory margin in general elections till date has been registered by two people till
date: Sh. Konathala Ramakrishna of Indian National Congress (INC) who won from Anakapalli
constituency in Andhra Pradesh in 1989; and Late Som Marandi of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),
who won from Rajmahal constituency in 1999. Both won with vote margin of 9 votes. Sh. Satyajit
Sinh D. Gaekwad won from Baroda constituency of Gujarat in 1996 general elections with vote
margin of 17 votes. Late M.S. Sivasamy of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won from
Tiruchendur constituency in 1971 general elections with vote margin of 26 votes. Sh. Thupstan
Chhewang of BJP won with vote margin of 36 votes in 2014 general elections from Ladakh
constituency. Late Rishang Keishing of Socialist party had won from Outer Manipur in 1962
general elections with vote margin of 42 votes.
