Ensuring inclusivity and accessibility in the electoral process is a key commitment of the Election

Commission of India, particularly when it comes to catering to the needs of Persons with
Disabilities (PwDs). This commitment is grounded in principles of responsiveness, respect, and
dignity, aimed at bolstering the confidence of PwD voters and fostering their increased

participation in the electoral process.

Individuals with one of the 21 disabilities recognized by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Act 2016 fall under the category of voters with disabilities.

Currently, PwD voters are categorized into four groups during enrolment in the electoral roll:
