reproduc ve rights

=The Medical Termina on of Pregnancy (Amendment) Act, 2020 expands
access of women to safe and legal abor on services on therapeu c,
eugenic, humanitarian or social grounds.
=The Union Cabinet, chaired by PM Narendra Modi amended the Medical
Termina on of Pregnancy Act, 1971, allowing abor on up to 24 weeks.

=Giving the needed impetus to the reproduc ve rights of women and save
them much physical and mental trauma.
=The Union Cabinet, chaired by the PM approved historic Bills for the
welfare of Women in the Country – the Assisted Reproduc ve Technology
Regula on Bill 2020 and the Surrogacy Regula on Bill 2020. These
legisla ve measures are path breaking steps to protect women’s
reproduc ve rights.

POSHAN Abhiyaan

=The Prime Minister’s overarching Scheme for Holis c Nutri on or
POSHAN Abhiyaan or Na onal Nutri on Mission, to improve nutri onal
outcomes for children, pregnant women and lacta ng mothers.
=For the Anaemia Mukt Bharat programme, Rs 425 crore has been
allocated by Government of India to all States and UTs for implemen ng
the tests, treatment and counselling of anaemia pa ents. This will help in
achieving the 3% reduc on in anaemia under the POSHAN Abhiyan.
=Home Based Young Child Care programme where ASHA will make
addi onal 5 home visits to the homes of children upto 15 months of age,
to specially counsel on nutri on and Early Childhood Development
under POSHAN Abhiyan. Rs 217 crore has been sanc oned to States
and UTs for this ini a ve.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana provides
cash incen ves to Pregnant Women and Lacta ng
Mothers to improve the health outcome of the
mother and the newborn.
